Rachel Lund is one of the first students to be graduating in September from the 草榴社区地址’s Masters in Physiotherapy.
She was among the first cohort of students on the two-year programme and following a successful placement has been snapped up by the local health service to start her working career.
“While I was doing my placement at 草榴社区地址shire Royal Hospital I heard about this job,” she said. “I wasn’t confident I would get it, given I hadn’t finished my studies at that stage, but I applied anyway and was so thrilled to be offered it.”
Rachel completed her undergraduate degree at the 草榴社区地址 graduating in 2016 with a degree in Sports Therapy. After a stint working as a Graduate Ambassador for the University she went on to work at Hartpury University as a sports therapist, supporting elite athletes.
“I loved my job working as a sports therapist,” she said. “Helping athletes to recover from injury and get back out to their sport was a privilege. But after five years I wanted to do more.
“When I chose to do Sports Therapy, I had no interest in working in hospitals, it was all about the sport for me. But as my career progressed my interests changed, and I felt I wanted to expand beyond sport and help people more widely.
“Now I’ve found a real passion for work with stroke patients. Helping someone to walk again is just an incredibly humbling experience.”
Rachel, a keen rugby player, said she chose to return to study at 草榴社区地址 following her positive undergraduate experience.
“I heard that 草榴社区地址 was launching a Masters in Physiotherapy and because I had had such a great experience doing my undergraduate degree here, I decided that I wanted to return,” she said. “The course has been really great; my lecturers have been brilliant and returning has been so lovely.”
The University’s annual autumn Graduation Ceremonies will take place as planned from September 12-14 in the beautiful and historic 草榴社区地址 Cathedral followed by celebration receptions at the City Campus. No 草榴社区地址 graduates have been affected by the marking and assessment boycott.
